The Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, 2025, was a devastating assault on tourists in Baisaran Valley, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in 26 fatalities and 20 injuries. The attackers, armed with AK-47s and M4 carbines, emerged from the dense pine forests surrounding the meadow, targeting a group of approximately 40 tourists. The victims included Indian nationals from various states, as well as a Nepali citizen. The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, initially claimed responsibility for the attack, citing opposition to non-local settlement in Kashmir. However, they later retracted their statement.
